Services
Software built for your business, deployed and kept running.
Custom applications
We build web applications and internal tools designed around your workflow, plus updates and improvements to software you already have. If a spreadsheet, a stack of paper forms or a set of disconnected tools is holding your team back, that is a good place to start.
Deployment and management
Software only helps once it is running reliably. We set up the web server, domain and DNS, secure remote access and backups, then monitor, update and maintain the application so you do not have to. It runs in a cloud account that you own, or on your own hardware, so your software and data are always yours.
Self-hosted business services
If you want to own your tools instead of renting them, we deploy and maintain services such as document management with Paperless-ngx, file sharing and Nextcloud, domain and DNS, and VPN access, and we can migrate you from what you use today. For example, we set up a searchable digital archive for a shop that needed to keep every card receipt.
IT support
We continue to offer break/fix IT support for existing clients and for problems that need solving: one-off fixes, networks, backups and software support. Support is billed hourly with no contracts. You can send a support request or ask for a free Tech Check-Up.
Problems we've solved
- Kept a race shop's dyno running after its Windows XP computer died. The dyno software only runs on Windows XP, and the computer's motherboard failed with a replacement weeks away. We moved the entire XP system into a virtual machine on a loaner so testing could continue, then set it up on a new Windows 11 computer with the dyno's serial connection passed through and a backup copy ready to restore.
- Kept a print shop working while its main server was rebuilt. When the computer running the shop's job management software died, we moved its drive into another machine to keep the business running while parts were on order. Then we rebuilt the server with a new motherboard, processor and memory, a faster solid-state drive, and automatic daily and monthly backups.
- Extended a shop's network to a second building. We set up a wireless point-to-point bridge to carry the network across, set up a dedicated management server for their Ubiquiti equipment in place of the owner's laptop, and cleaned up the network closet so the wireless equipment is powered from one switch.
- Got scan-to-email working again after Google changed its sign-in rules. A shop's office printer suddenly stopped emailing scans. Google no longer accepted the printer's password, so we set up a dedicated app password for it, and scanning worked again without weakening the account's two-step verification.
- Recovered a client's files from a Mac drive, without a Mac. When a MacBook's data needed rescuing and no other Mac was available, we used Linux and open-source tools to read Apple's file system and copy everything to a drive the client could use anywhere.
