The challenge
Technicians in the field need a long list of links: tool downloads, operating system images, vendor portals. Keeping installers on a USB drive doesn't work for long, because many of them expire and have to be downloaded again. Keeping a document full of links means copying and pasting into a browser every time.
How it works
The Field Tech Field Guide stores each link in three parts:
- The app, which holds the website's address.
- The path to a page on that site.
- The extension at the end of the path.
Because the parts are stored separately, one app can hold every page you need on the same site. Pick an app, a path and an extension, and the guide builds the full address. It can add HTTP or HTTPS and a port number when needed, then open the link.
Link lists are saved as files you can import and export, and each one is opened with a password. You can also brand the guide with your own logo by replacing logo.png.
